Why are shipping costs going up?
There are many factors that can affect shipping costs, but today we’re focusing on the biggest factors of this period: Seasonal Challenges and Market Dynamics.
Seasonal sales, such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and holiday sales, often lead to a surge in orders, putting immense pressure on e-commerce businesses.
Meanwhile, Peak shipping season is approaching, and freight rates are expected to remain high.
It’s normal for seasonal demand to increase in the months leading up to the holidays.
Here are the Key Factors Driving Shipping Cost Increases:
- The race begins when retailers rush to stock their shelves, and this leads to a surge in orders that overloads available shipping capacity. More shipments mean more congestion at ports and distribution centers, contributing to delays and higher costs.
- Higher demand is expected this year as e-commerce continues to grow. The increased customer demand is putting additional pressure on already congested shipping channels and driving up prices.
- The global economy continues to face uncertainties. Inflation rates remain high in various regions, impacting everything from fuel prices to labor costs. Increased demand for goods and services, combined with ongoing supply chain disruptions, puts upward pressure on shipping rates.
- In 2024, crude oil prices have seen a spike due to geopolitical tensions and supply chain constraints. As shipping companies face higher fuel surcharges, these costs are inevitably passed on to consumers and businesses alike.
We, in Nihaojewelry, have tried our best to keep our costs as low as possible so that our existing and new clients will not be affected by these new charges but seeing as we have no choice.
We appreciate your understanding and we hope to still have you as our valued clients. Thank you!
